Snow ❄️ conditions have always varied from year to year, but climate scientists looking at data that goes back decades have observed a clear trend: Winter in the Alps 🏔️ has become shorter. Less snow is falling. And it's melting faster.

This week I picked up family at the Ukrainian bord

This week I picked up family at the Ukrainian border to help them continue their journey to Germany (through Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Poland). We drove day and night to get them to safety, which is nothing compared to what they have endured getting to the Western border of Ukraine from Kyiv with the threat of Russian attacks on their way.

Last week I spoke to firms who are trying to develop strategies that would help them navigate their approach to climate resilience, and ensure safety to their firms in a changing climate.

Both these situations, even if they seem different, are comparable with the action required. They desire to achieve the safety of human kind, and peace.

I hope that we recognise the urgency of these situations, where I hope we react with compassion, and deal with such threats in a unified way.

This year I am privileged to have began working as a researcher at the University of Cambridge alongside my job as a consultant and PhD researcher in the areas of climate dynamics, systemic risk assessment of financial system resilience to natural disasters, and adaptive governance of hydro-meteorological hazards. I hope to learn and contribute to a new and growing area of academic literature, while focusing on making sure the output is as applicable and assessable as possible for practical implementation
